The Town Clerk has announced that Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 will be the deadline to register to vote for the Special Town Election to be held on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021.
You may register to vote by appearing at Town Hall, register to vote online through the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website, or you may request to have a voter registration form mailed to you by calling the Clerk’s office at 781-821-5013. Completed forms may be left in the payment drop box in front of Town Hall and must be received by 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 24th, or they may be returned by mail with a postmark no later than November 24th.
Town Hall will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 24th, however, there will be voter registration forms located on the glass door at the ramp entrance on the Sherman Street side of the building until 8:00 PM. Completed voter registration forms must be placed in the payment drop box in front of Town Hall by 8:00 PM on November 24th.
If you are registered to vote at your current address there is no need to re-register.
The polls will remain open on election day from 7:00AM to 8:00PM. The following question will appear on the ballot:
Shall the Town of Canton be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one half so called the amounts required to pay for the bond issued in order to acquire for general municipal purposes the real estate consisting of land and buildings known as St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, located at 1860 Washington Street, Assessor’s Map 64, parcel 37, in the Town of Canton, and to pay for consultants (such as but not limited to engineers, surveyors, appraisers, financial advisors and the like) as in the Board’s judgment are advantageous to assist the Town in carrying out the foregoing?
