TOWN OF CANTON
CANTON BOARD OF HEALTH
Amendments to the “Canton Board of Health Regulation of the
Sale of Tobacco and Nicotine Products”
On Thursday, November 7, 2019, the Canton Board of Health will be holding a public hearing at Pequitside Farm (In the “Tavern”), 79 Pleasant Street, Canton at 7:00 PM to discuss and vote on certain amendments to the Canton Board of Health Regulation of the Sale of Tobacco and Nicotine Products.
A summary of the amendments to the Regulation include, but are not limited to; adding language that may prohibit the sale of all forms of vaping and electronic cigarettes and associated paraphernalia for sale in Canton, consistent with the similar Massachusetts current prohibition; remove the 60-day window of opportunity that allows a business with a Tobacco Sales Permit to be transferred or sold which would have had the right for the new owner or manager to obtain another Tobacco Sales permit; defines the term “Going out of Business” for the purpose of the Regulation; redefines and prohibits all flavors from tobacco and nicotine product sales, including, but not limited to mint, menthol and eucalyptus. Minor language clarifications will also be considered.
After the hearing, the Board of Health may vote to pass none, all, or some of the proposed amendments.
Anyone interested in obtaining a full copy of the Regulation Amendments may do so from the Town Clerk or Board of Health offices.
