[ARCHIVED] Roof Snow Removal at Municipal Locations

The Town of Canton continues its town wide efforts to remove snow where needed from municipal roof tops. This work involves the use of DPW bucket trucks and Building Maintenance/DPW staff members assisting our private roof contractor, Sprague Roofing. Sprague specializes in snow removal and they are familiar with the Town’s roof inventory, as they have historically assisted us in updating and repairing various roofs on Town of Canton buildings. Special care is needed when working from certain Town of Canton roofs due to the fact some locations, such as Memorial Hall, have slate roofing materials.
Locations at which this activity has either been completed or is ongoing include: Memorial Hall, the Police Facility, the Library, Fire Station 2, the DPW Bolivar Street Facility, the Animal Control Shelter, and the Neponset and Pine Street Water Buildings. Roof evaluations and insurance claims are also ongoing, as there has been some confirmed water infiltration due to ice damming at a number of the locations listed above.
Additional information will be provided when available.
