[ARCHIVED] A Few Helpful Tips When the Snow Melts

CLEAN YOUR NEAREST CATCH BASIN: If the water can't find the storm drain, it will flood the street and nearby basements. Even a small channel to a catch basin will help keep things flowing.
DIVERT GUTTER DOWNSPOUTS TO YOUR LAWN: Adding water to the streets can increase flooding and wreak havoc on your local sewers, rivers, and lakes.
DON'T PUMP TO THE SEWER-IT'S ILLEGAL: If you have a sump pump, direct it outside to your lawn to avoid increased flooding.
REMOVE LITTER FROM SNOW: When the snow melts, the litter won't , and it will end up polluting rivers, lakes, and beaches.
