at Pequitside Farm, 79 Pleasant Street, .       Most of us, especially our kids, are counting down the days to Summer. And what better way to kick of the season of summer fun than with Canton’s Summer Sun and Safety Fair at Pequitside Farm. This regular event is sponsored by the Canton Board of Health as well as with other Town Departments, Community groups and organizations, and will be held on Friday evening, May 19th at Pequitside Farm, 79 Pleasant Street, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. This is the time when you can enjoy some fun and quality time with your family while learning important tips on how to safely enjoy your summer. Families with kids can take this time to stop by this early evening event and enjoy the education and fun intended for the entire clan. As always, the Summer Fun and Safety Fair will have exhibits to demonstrate safe and healthy summer activities the whole family can enjoy. This amazing event is put on by the Board of Health and other Canton Town Departments with personnel from the Police, Fire, Recreation, DPW, and Property Maintenance Departments. Community organizations will also be contributing their time and expertise to this “happening” event. .

This year’s exhibitions at the Summer Fun and Safety Fair will include educational presentations related to fire and auto safety, tick removal, bike safety, and water and pool safety. Also included will be demonstrations of sun screen use, mosquito protection, and Lyme disease prevention. Hay rides will be available as well as face painting, crafts and more. The winners of the Summer Safety Bookmark contest will be revealed. Free bicycle helmets, compliments of the Board of Health will be distributed by the Police Department at this affair (details will be available at the “door”, but you must arrive early because supplies are limited). Other exhibits are sure to keep you and the kids smiling.

Naturally, freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs will be available to the hungry hoards who attend and may be purchased for just $1 each.

A regular and popular feature returning to the Summer Sun and Safety Fair is the MY CHIP program, (Masonic Youth Childhood Identification Program), which is sponsored by the Canton Police Department in conjunctions with the Freemasons from Blue Hill Lodge, A.F. & A.M and the 7th Masonic District. Participating families will be given an electronic identification profile of their children, including DNA swabs, fingerprints, and dental impressions which are created to assist law enforcement in the event such information is needed should a child go missing. Only the parents retain their child’s ID record.

And as always, this event is free. So come one and all to Pequitside Farm on Friday, May 19th , beginning at 4:00 PM through 7:00 PM (Rain or shine) and enjoy some family time with the kids while discovering the things you can do to make your summer time a safe time for all those who matter most to you.

Come on by and join us!
