The report preliminarily outlines the insurance company's view of the overall facility damage and causation. It includes suggestions, other findings and comments relative to potential further site testing and evaluation. The draft report includes blank pages highlighting the report's current draft status. The report makes no recommendation, does not include any cost estimating, nor does it reflect any insurance claim determination(s). The Town continues to provide FEMA and MEMA representatives site access and other information prerequisite to finalizing our grant application for the facilities reconstruction with the assistance of the Building Commissioner, Recreation Director and our Department of Finance.
This office, at the Board of Selectmen’s direction, on Friday assigned our construction specialist, via our Town Counsel, to review/comment on the draft report and that effort is actively ongoing. We are advised that the Insurance companies construction specialist will begin using this draft to develop cost estimates for the rinks reconstruction. Ultimately, along with a variety of other administrative and other required claim processing activities, the insurer will then, at some point, make a claim determination based on policy terms and conditions. They will then issue that notification to the Town of Canton. The lead claim adjuster has been reminded once again that time is of the essence.
