Recent public information had been provided relative to a request made by the Town of Canton, via our Public Works Dept, and due to the very high daily water consumption levels caused by the combination of limited rainfall and high temperatures, that the Town requests the continuation of limiting outside watering from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm daily, for all residents and businesses. In addition, the Town requests residents/businesses to help conserve water by watering only on even/odd numbered calendar days of the month, consistent with even/odd number of your home/business address. This request extends through the end of September when temperatures and water use is expected to moderate.
Reports of low water pressure in certain areas of Canton have been experienced. The Town normally uses (approximately on average) 3 mgpd (million gallons per day), and is currently using upwards of 5 mgpd. The Town closely monitors water consumption on a town wide basis via our Scada computerized tracking system which tracks daily water use and reports that information to DPW Water Division staff members.
With your help and cooperation we can reduce water system demands and ensure that prioritized water uses for such things as drinking, cooking, cleaning and bathing are not impacted.
Thank you for your assistance.
