[ARCHIVED] Updated Public Info - Algonquin Gas Potential System Upgrade

Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC (“Algonquin”) is an interstate natural gas transmission company that has maintained and safely operated its interstate pipeline system in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts since 1953. Algonquin previously proposed the Atlantic Bridge Project and contacted landowners whose properties were anticipated to be impacted by that project. However, after Algonquin finalized its commercial agreements with the potential customers for the Atlantic Bridge Project, a reduction in the Project’s scope resulted. Based on the revised Project design, the proposed facilities along Algonquin’s Q-System in your area were dropped from the Atlantic Bridge Project and Algonquin reflected that change in filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Landowners also received notices to that effect.

Despite this change with regard to the Atlantic Bridge Project, the need to bring additional supplies of natural gas into the region remained a critical concern. As a result, Algonquin continued to consider separate and unrelated pipeline expansion projects. Algonquin has evaluated additional proposals to modify its existing interstate natural gas pipeline system in your area to meet the growing market demand for increased energy. One such proposed expansion is referred to as the Access Northeast Project (“ANE Project”) and it will benefit the Northeast by making available additional supplies of natural gas, expand and improve pipeline transportation facilities which are necessary to support the needs of regional power generators and natural gas customers, and address the growing demand for natural gas.

Project representatives will begin in the coming weeks to collect and evaluate the field information necessary to determine the preferred locations for the proposed facility expansions which will have the least amount of impact while balancing constructability concerns. Project Introduction letters will be mailed shortly to landowners within the so-called study corridor. Shortly after the Project Introduction letters are mailed, Survey Request letters will be forwarded to those same landowners. A number of the landowners who will receive the ANE Project Introduction and Survey Request letters were previously contacted by Algonquin with regard to the Atlantic Bridge Project, and then informed that their property was no longer under consideration by the Atlantic Bridge Project. However, the ANE Project is a totally separate and distinct project and Algonquin’s outreach efforts will commence anew.
