Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee - 4 vacancies
Mission and Goals
The Canton Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (CDEI) Committee seeks to foster a welcoming and inclusive community that encourages cooperation and respect among all persons in Canton.
The CDEI seeks to celebrate and embrace the traditions and values of the groups within our community and advocate for human and civil rights of all individuals in the Town of Canton through education, promoting community awareness and understanding of cultural differences, and working to eradicate barriers to equity and inclusion.
The committee shall strive to insure all individuals in the Town of Canton enjoy equal opportunity to participate in and enjoy life in our Town, regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religious beliefs, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age and mental or physical ability.

Canton Cultural Council 12 vacancies
Mission and Goals
The Canton Cultural Council's mission is to promote excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all residents and contribute to the economic vitality of our community. The Council strives to use its available grants to maximize positive impacts on Canton citizens.

Canton Veteran's Council 8 vacancies
Mission and Goals
The Veteran's Council assists the Canton Veteran's Agent in planning and executing events involving veterans including Memorial and Veteran's Days celebrations, Honor Guard recruitment, holiday events for the community, food drives, toy drives and pancake breakfasts.

Preferred qualifications for volunteers are that members must be veterans and have an interest in planning and executing community events. Economic Development Committee 2 vacancies
Mission and Goals
The Economic Development Committee works to ensure that there will be a professional and open level of communication, support and trust between business community members and Town government. The committee supports existing and new business leaders in defining the process of managing and/or relocating businesses to Canton. This will ensure a vibrant business community which is essential to maintaining a financially balanced mix of tax revenue flow to the Town. The Committee works to ensure that Canton maintains its preeminent position as a leading corporate headquarters site in Eastern Massachusetts. In addition the EDC is responsible for interviewing applicants and making recommendations to the Select Board in the TIF application process.

Preferred qualifications for volunteers are an interest in corporate business development in Canton, community engagement and marketing, an understanding of the financial impact on Town revenue and business knowledge. Historical Commission vacancies - 2 alternates
Mission and Goals
The Canton Historical Commission is established under Section 8d of Chapter 40 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The Historical Commission is the official Town agent of municipal government responsible for community-wide historic preservation planning. The Commission's duty is to identify, protect, and preserve Canton's properties and sites that are of historic significance. The Historical Commission works in cooperation with other municipal agencies, such as the Select Board, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, Community Preservation Committee, and the Building Inspector to insure that the goals of historic preservation are considered in the planning and future development of the Town of Canton.

Traffic Committee 1 vacancy - citizen at large
Mission and Goals
There is currently one vacancy. The committee meets quarterly to discuss traffic concerns in Canton. This includes listening to members of the public and reviewing traffic concern forms. The committee makes periodic recommendations to the Select Board for various projects to address these traffic issues.
Volunteer Opportunities

Reservoir Ponds Advisory Board - 1 vacancy - citizen at large
Mission and Goals
To make non binding recommendations to the Canton Select Board regarding the protection, use, access and regulation of Reservoir Pond.
Volunteer Opportunities
There is one vacancy on this committee. Preferred qualifications for volunteers are a strong interest in preserving and protecting Reservoir Pond.
