Flag raising/Flag lowering practice

In accordance with Governor’s orders and U.S. Flag Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 7 (m), when notified, the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag are to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset at all state buildings as a mark of respect.

If the request is received on a non-business day, then the action will be performed on the next business day.  

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1.  The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls

2.  Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3.  All state military installations
