Committee Objectives


FY20 Objectives, Canton Walk, Bike & Hike Committee

  1. Further Develop Trail Maps (Online and Print).  

  2. Ensure that the Paul Revere Heritage Park provides pedestrian/cyclist access directly connecting downtown to the Canton Junction station.

  3. Promote improved cycling infrastructure; for example cycling lanes, signage, share-the-road sharrows, and bike parking; Share-the-road sharrows and bike rack (at Town Hall).

  4. Request notifications from the Zoning Board of Appeals when properties with public easements are up for sale. Continue to advocate for enforcement for existing easement/access agreements. 

  5. Pursue community outreach & education.

  6. Apply to the Canton Community Preservation Committee (CCPC) and other funding sources for wayfinding signage & trail improvements, etc.


2016 Objectives

  1. The route 128 interchange as it relates to eliminating access to University Avenue Commuter Rail Station, eliminating revenue the town enjoys from permitting parking on Greenlodge, aggravation of other routes already seeing high traffic volume during rush hours, etc.

  2. Heritage Park as it relates to connection of downtown to the Canton Center and Canton Junction rail stations, providing alternate routes for pedestrian and cyclists that do not involve passing through the viaduct, etc.

  3. Increased cycling lanes, signage and painting for the downtown area, etc.

  4. Creating a comprehensive trail map for Canton
