If you and/or your spouse do qualify for Medicare and are currently working for the Town of Canton or School Department when you turn 65, you may defer enrolling into Part B. Please email Jody Middleton, Human Resources Director or call 781-821-2936. If you and/or your spouse do not qualify for Medicare, please send the letter from Social Security to the Human Resources Department.
Retirees & Their Spouses Medicare Part A & B Enrollment Requirements

Medex
The Town of Canton requires retirees and their spouses, who are eligible for Medicare, to enroll in Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Medicare Part B (physician’s insurance). All Medicare-eligible retirees and their spouses are also required to enroll in the Town’s Medicare supplemental insurance plan, Medex, which includes prescription coverage. (Do NOT enroll in Medicare Part D). Medex is a Blue Cross Blue Shield Supplemental Insurance that fill "gaps" in Medicare coverage. If retirees and/or their spouses do not qualify for Medicare, please send the letter from Social Security to the Human Resources Department.
2023 Medicare Part B Premiums
The standard Part B premium amount in 2022 will be $164.90. Most people will pay the standard Part B premium amount. If your modified adjusted gross income as reported on your IRS tax return from 2 years ago is above a certain amount, you’ll pay the standard premium amount and an Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). IRMAA is an extra charge added to your premium.

If the Town of Canton does not receive your completed forms with a copy of your Medicare A and B by the 1st of the month, prior to your birth month, we cannot guarantee that your prescription drug program will be effective on the first of your birth month. (i.e. birth month through July. All information must be received by June 1st in order to be processed in a timely manner). The Blue Cross Medicare D program cannot make your prescription drug coverage retroactive to your Medicare A and B effective date. This coverage will be effective the first of the following month.
