Hazardous Waste Day is held at the Department of Public Works Garage, which is located at:
150 Bolivar Street
Canton, MA 02021

Hazardous Waste Day Date To be Determined,  from 9:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. 

BELOW ARE COVID -19 GUIDELINES that must be followed:

 ALL residents are required to wear masks or face coverings and must follow Social Distancing Guidelines. Waste will only be accepted from pickup truck beds, trunks and the back of SUVs (we will not accept any material from the seats of vehicles or materials handed to us from residents), Waste brought in containers  must remain in containers, containers will not be returned – this includes but is not limited to gas containers and storage totes. Residents must stay in the vehicle any resident who attempts to or exits a vehicle will be asked to leave.   

Accepted Items 


The Canton Recycling Division will be collecting hazardous waste from Canton Residents, including the following:

  • Antifreeze
  • Gasoline (NOT to Exceed 25 gallons or 25 pounds) 
  • Mercury thermometers and thermostats
  • Motor vehicle oil
  • Motor vehicles batteries
  • Oil paint
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Sealants
  • Solvents
  • Tires
  • Batteries ( Small lead acid, Ni-Cad Rechargeable, Lithium, Alkaline)

Fluorescent light bulbs$ 1
Mercury Thermometer$ 3
Mercury Thermostat$ 3
Motor Oil$ 3 per gallon
Motor Vehicle batteries$ 6
Oil Paint$ 3 per gallon
Passenger tires (off rim)$ 6
Passenger tires (on rim)$ 7
Pesticides$ 3 per gallon
Pool Chemical$ 3 per gallon
Sealants$ 3 per gallon
Solvents$ 3 per gallon

Rules & Regulations

  • No commercial companies are allowed
  • No early drop of will be allowed
  • No latex paint, NO propane tanks, NO Fire Extinguishers 
  • Tires will be accepted on or off the rim
