The Town Planner works under the direction of the Board of
Selectmen as well as the direction of the Planning Board, and in
accordance with municipal policies and objectives and local and
state ordinances and statutes. The Town Planner consults with
the Board of Selectmen and Planning Board for policy
clarification, interpretation, exception or implementation as
required.
The
Town Planner is responsible for developing sound approaches to
growth and development; assessing proposals for growth control,
land use development, and zoning by-law changes. Essential
functions include long range planning studies; assisting in
review and evaluation of development proposals, providing input
for specific planning and development issues; preparation of
grant application; and development of site design plans for
municipal properties.
The
Town Planner works outside of normal business hours on a daily
basis at night or on the weekends, and may be contacted at home
in response to important situations.
