Road Work
Bay State Gas is upgrading main and house services along Washington Street between Randolph Street and Pecunit Street. Work will occur between 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM. The Canton Police Department is working with Bay State Gas to minimize traffic impact. Expect delays and detours and please use caution when driving in the work zone.

Swimming Pool Enclosure/Safety
Please be advised that all swimming pools containing more than 24 inches of water must have a proper enclosure as required by the Massachusetts State Building Code. This includes any inflatable pools with filters, available at most department stores. If you have any questions, please contact the Canton Building Department at 781 821-5003.

Notice is hereby given that the Canton Board of Selectmen will hold a Public Hearing beginning at approximately 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 in the Salah Meeting Room, located on the second floor of 801 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021 (Memorial Hall).   The purpose of this hearing is to obtain public input and hear the recommendation of the Water Sewer Rate Policy Committee and its consultant relative to a new water and sewer rate structure with implementation date proposed for Fiscal Year 2011, beginning June 30, 2010.   The public is urged to attend and participate or send written comments to the above address or via email at: bos@town.canton.ma.us

The Boil Water order has been lifted. Governor Deval Patrick today announced that the water flowing to Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) communities is once again clean and safe for all purposes

The MWRA has notified several communities that there is a leak on a major water pipe in Weston that has disrupted water service to all of our customer communities east of Weston, this includes Canton. The MWRA is issuing a boil water order and water ban on all non-essential water use until further notice.

MWRA is working on activating emergency water supplies such as the Chestnut Hill Reservoir and Spot Pond Reservoir. A boil water notice has been issued for the service area along with a water ban. We request that all non-essential water use be discontinued until further notice.

Bolivar Street, Elm Street, and Rockland Street near Howard Street are closed indefinitely due to flooding conditions. Condominiums at 80 Walnut Street are being assisted by Canton Fire and evacuated.

Also, it is expected before nightfall Dedham Street will be closed to thru traffic.    All motorists should seek alternate routes during tonight’s commute. Motorists are asked during the Wednesday 3-31-10 AM commute, to again seek alternate routes, as flooded roadways will cause detours and traffic delays.

    The Town of Canton will hold a Rabies Clinic at the Department of Public Works, located at 150 Bolivar Street, on Saturday April 3^rd from 11AM to 1PM. The cost of the rabies vaccination will be $12 and blood tests will be available for an additional charge
